As Sri Lanka announced the ODI and T20I squads for series against New Zealand, former Sri Lanka white-ball captain Dasun Shanaka continues to stay out of action. Both the teams will be led by Charith Asalanka.
In the recent white-ball series against West Indies, Shanaka and Chameera were both taken out. Shanaka played for his country in ODIs and T20Is against Zimbabwe in January and T20I series against India in July.
For the first time since the ODI World Cup, Kusal Perera has been taken in the ODI team for series against New Zealand. Bhanuka Rajapakasa has also been taken in the team after he returned to the national team during the West Indies series.
