India A opener KL Rahul falls cheaply in 2nd unofficial Test against Australia A

New Delhi: India A suffered a disastrous start in the second unofficial Test against Australia A at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday, losing four wickets in just three overs. KL Rahul, who was added to India A squad on Wednesday for the match, only managed to score 4 runs.

He was dismissed by Australia A bowler Scott Boland as India A lost 4 big wickets on just 11 runs. Neser removed Abhimanyu Easwaran in the first over on a duck and picked up his second wicket on the next delivery, by removing Sai Sudharsan on a duck. He scored a stunning century in the second inning of the first unofficial Test in Mackay last week and the team hoped for the same performance from Sudharsan but he failed.

Neser took his third wicket of the match when he dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad for just 4 runs. Padikkal got a good start but he failed to convert it into a big score as Neser took his fourth wicket of the match. KL Rahul was included in the India A squad as the team management wanted to give him some game time before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but he failed to deliver.

Dhruv Jurel replaced Ishan Kishan in India A’s playing XI after the Jharkhand batter failed to score big runs in the first unofficial Test, which Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. lost by 7 wickets. While Jurel is unlikely to play the first Test against Australia in Perth, KL Rahul is in contention to play as an opener in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
