CBI starts investigation on Rahul Gandhi's citizenship issue, gives information to Delhi High Court

CBI is investigating the issue of citizenship of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This information was given to Delhi High Court. The court was told that a PIL has been filed on this issue in Allahabad High Court also, the hearing on which is going on. Regarding this, a CBI inquiry has been started into the citizenship of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

On this the court said that it does not want any contradictory order to be passed. Two parallel petitions cannot be heard on the same issue. The petitioner, a Karnataka BJP worker, said that he has filed a PIL in the Allahabad High Court.

On this, the bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said that it does not want any contradictory order to be passed. The bench said that there cannot be two parallel petitions on the same cause. After this the bench asked S. Vignesh Shishir was allowed to file an affidavit on relevant developments following his PIL in the Allahabad High Court.

This case was before the Delhi High Court on the petition of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy. Swamy had sought direction from the court to the Home Ministry to decide on Rahul Gandhi's application seeking cancellation of his Indian citizenship.

Swamy, in his petition, also sought direction to the Home Ministry to submit a status report on his application against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Subramanian Swamy said that the case pending before the Allahabad High Court has nothing to do with his case.

Subramanian Swamy said that the applications filed in both the courts are completely different. Whereas S. Vignesh Shishir claimed that Swamy's petition has created a situation of parallel proceedings. On this, the court asked Shishir to file an application to become a party in the petition.

The court listed the case for December 6. During the hearing, Shishir said that his petition was heard in Allahabad High Court on 24 October. CBI is investigating this matter. I also appeared before the CBI in this case and presented confidential evidence in this regard.
