Shaina NC, who joined Shiv Sena from BJP, is contesting from Mumbadevi constituency in the upcoming assembly elections. In this election, sitting member of Legislative Assembly Amin Patel is again contesting from this constituency. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray wing) MP Arvind Sawant, who campaigned for Amin Patel, criticized him and said that he (Shaina NC) should look at his situation. She was in BJP all her life.

Shaina filed a complaint at NC Nagpada police station against Arvind Sawant's speech yesterday (Friday). After this the police filed a first information report under sections 79 and 356(2).
Arvind Sawant, who initially said he did not misspoke and did not take Shaina's name, today apologized for his speech. Speaking to journalists, Arvind Sawant said, “I had no intention of hurting anyone's sentiments. As I have said in that sense. I am very sorry. If anyone's sentiments have been hurt by my speech, let me tell you. A woman's respect should not be decided on the basis of which party she belongs to.”
As Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, Arvind Sawant's speech has become a major topic of discussion in the state's politics. Shaina NC alleged that Arvind Sawant has insulted all women with his speech. Arvind Sawant has apologized in this matter. Elections will be held on all 288 seats of Maharashtra in a single phase on 20th. Counting of votes will take place on 23rd and results will be declared on the same day.
