Commenting on the issue, India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the ban was imposed just over an hour after the channel aired the press conference. India called it hypocrisy and said it reflected the duplicity of Canada, which talks about freedom of expression but itself restricts the same.
Randhir Jaiswal further said that you must have seen that Foreign Minister Jaishankar had mentioned three things in his media program in Sydney. The first thing that happened was that Canada made allegations and without any specific evidence a pattern developed. The second thing that he highlighted was that Indian diplomats in Canada were being monitored, which he called unacceptable. The third thing highlighted was that anti-India elements were given political space in Canada, hence you can conclude why Canada blocked Australia Today channel. For your information, let us tell you that this incident took place a few days after Khalistan supporters attacked a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada.
