Canada bans 'Australia Today' for broadcasting EAM Jaishankar press conference News In Hindi: The Canadian government has banned the Australia Today outlet, hours after broadcasting External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's press conference. During the press conference, Jaishankar commented on the India-Canada diplomatic standoff. The press conference was broadcast by Australia Today on its YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, India reacted strongly to the issue, saying it was surprised by Canada's move to ban the outlet and stressed that it exposed Canada's hypocrisy towards freedom of expression. Australia Today Broadcast the joint press conference of Jaishankar and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Canberra (Australia).

Canada has banned Australia Today and the news outlet has been blocked and is no longer available to viewers in Canada, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a media briefing in Delhi.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have learned that the social media handle, page of an important expatriate outlet in Canada has been blocked/banned. This was confirmed by this particular handle, along with Penny Wong, Foreign Minister Dr. This happened just hours after S. Jaishankar's press conference was broadcast…we were surprised.

He said, this seemed strange to us. But still, I would say that these are actions that once again expose Canada's hypocrisy towards freedom of expression.
