Kapil Dev advises Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to practice ahead of Border-Gavaskar series

Former India skipper Kapil Dev has urged under-fire Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to practice ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Test series in Australia. His commented after the two senior batters failed miserably in the three-match Test series against New Zealand, where India lost all the games.

Kohli scored 93 runs in six innings at an average of 15.50, his worst in a home series in seven years, while Rohit managed 91 runs at an average of 15.16.

Their performances were questioned by former players, with many accusing them of not preparing for the home season. The two refused to play in the Duleep Trophy and the upcoming five Tests against Australia will be a make-or-break series for the legendary batters.

Kapil urged the two senior batters and other Indian players to increase their practice sessions before taking on Australia.

“They will have to practice a lot. You can’t improve by sitting in the room and it is not going to happen. If you are struggling, go out and practice. It is better to practice, practice and practice,” Kapil Dev told Cricketnext.

Rohit has scored 408 runs at an average of 31.38 in seven Tets in Australia. He has hit three half-centuries.

In 13 Test matches, Kohli has amassed 1352 runs at 54.08 with six hundreds and four half-centuries.
