Maharashtra Cyber Police files FIR against those selling T-shirts of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim
New Delhi. Maharashtra Cyber Police recently filed an FIR against e-commerce platforms and sellers selling T-shirts glorifying gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim. Under this action, now these platforms and sellers will be thoroughly investigated and interrogated. A few days ago, a T-shirt calling Lawrence Bishnoi a “hero” had surfaced on social media, after which there was an uproar in this matter.
Serious allegations were made against e-commerce platforms
According to sources, several e-commerce platforms like Meesho, Flipkart, AliExpress, and T-Shopper were accused of selling T-shirts with pictures of notorious gangsters like Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim. A lot of displeasure was expressed among the general public and social media regarding these T-shirts. Other companies including Meesho immediately took steps to remove these products from their websites, but Maharashtra Cyber Police has taken the matter seriously and registered an FIR.
The film producer had expressed objection
Filmmaker Alishan Jaffrey was the first to register his objection on this issue. He had shared a photo in which Lawrence Bishnoi's photo and “Gangster” was written on the T-shirt. Jafri had posted on social media platform After this, other people also saw a similar T-shirt on Flipkart, which was priced at Rs 166.
People are literally selling gangster merchandise on platforms like @Meesho_Official and Teeshopper. This is just one example of India’s latest online radicalisation.

Allegations of influencing children
Some people on social media claimed that such T-shirts are being sold even to children, which can have a negative impact on their mental development. It is believed that most of the members of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang are of young age, who came into the world of crime influenced by this type of ideology. Therefore, strict action was demanded against these products which set wrong ideals in the minds of children.

Maharashtra Cyber Police has registered an FIR for selling T-shirts glorifying Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim on e-commerce platforms like Flipkart, AliExpress, Tshopper and Etsy. According to the police, such products promote a distorted image in the society and can motivate the youth towards crime. A case has been registered under CR No. 13/2024 u/s 192, 196, 353, 3 BNS, 2023 r/w 67 IT Act, 2000.
