During one of his concerts in the state capital Itanagar, Son publicly slaughtered a chicken on stage and then squeezed out its blood and drank it. When the complaint regarding this reached the police, they registered a case.

Musician Kon Y Son is a resident of Seppa in East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and is very famous in the state due to his songs. Son writes the songs himself and also composes their music. Local language singer Son has a good fan following among the youth of Arunachal Pradesh.

On October 27, during one of his live stage shows, Son slit the throat of a chicken on stage and while squeezing it, started drinking the blood. When the matter reached the police, they registered a case under the Indian Justice Code and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Although the singer has apologized for the incident, Son said that whatever happened on stage should not have happened, if anyone got hurt by it, then I apologize for that.

As soon as the video of this incident went viral on social media, the animal protection organization People's for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), India, an organization working for animals around the world, lodged a complaint in the police station, after which the police registered an FIR.

After filing the FIR, PETA India also demanded that Singer Son should be mentally examined, as animal abuse indicates a deep psychological disturbance. PETA, an organization working for the protection of animals, had earlier also sent a written proposal to the Government of India. In this proposal, there was a demand to increase the punishment for cruelty towards animals and to give harsher punishment.
