Virat Kohli shares embarrassing prank by senior teammates in Indian dressing room

Virat Kohli recently recalled his first meeting with the great Sachin Tendulkar in the India National Cricket Team’s dressing room, where some of his teammates played an embarrassing prank on him. He has shared the story in the past, but it never gets old. In the ODI series against Sri Lanka in 2008, the senior players told him to bow down to Sachin. He took the instructions seriously and did what was told to him. However, Tendulkar was taken aback by his act.

Kohli went to the legendary cricketer and bowed down in front of him.

“I bowed down in front of him when I met the great man for the first time. I thought this was the custom. Sachin was stunned and asked me what I was doing. I couldn’t tell him that I was told to do this,” Kohli said while speaking to Gaurav Kapoor at an HSBC Bank event.

Irfan (Pathan) bhai, Bhajju pa (Harbhajan Singh), Yuvi pa (Yuvraj Singh) and Munaf Patel were there. All of them pranked me,” he added.

He played his maiden ODI in the series against Sri Lanka. Kohli has become one of the most incredible batters since then and will now compete in a five-Test series against Australia. India will travel Down Under for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
