Yogi government engaged in creating a safe and sensitive environment for destitute children

• Yogi government will spend more than Rs 100.00 crore in the construction of 10 new conservation homes in the state.
• Under 'Chief Minister Child Shelter Scheme', new child protection homes will be built in 10 districts including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya.
• All protection homes will be equipped with modern facilities for the all-round development of destitute children.
• All protection homes will be operated under Mission Vatsalya Scheme, each will have the capacity of 100 children.

Lucknow, Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women Welfare Department has taken a new and important initiative for the all-round development and safety of children. Under this initiative, 10 new child protection homes will be constructed and operated in different districts of the state. The aim of these foster homes is to provide a safe and healthy environment to children, where they can develop as good citizens.

New child protection homes will be built in 10 districts including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya.

According to this scheme proposed by the Women Welfare Department, in the first phase, these protection homes will be established in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Amethi, Mathura, Firozabad, Basti, Jhansi and Kanpur Dehat of the state. Each protection home will have the capacity to accommodate 100 children each, so that maximum children can be benefited. These include 1 Government Children's Home (Girls), 1 Government Children's Home (Boys), 7 Government Observation Homes (Juveniles), 1 Place of Safety Home including Juvenile Justice Board. In these protection homes, children will not only be provided living facilities, but their physical, mental and emotional development will also be taken care of.

As per the wish of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women and Child Development Department is trying to connect the helpless and sensitive children with the mainstream of society by giving them a new life by establishing these protection homes. In these homes, children will be provided with facilities like education, health care, mental health support and life skills in a protected environment.

A big step towards bringing change in the society

Under this scheme, the state government has also earmarked necessary funds for the construction of child protection homes. Yogi government will construct all the houses from its own budget. According to the provisions of Mission Vatsalya Yojana by the Central Government, in the operation of these homes, an expenditure of Rs 7.96 crore will be incurred on the State Government as per the central share – 60 percent and state share – 40 percent. Along with this, a budget provision of Rs 100 crore has been made in the financial year 2024-25 under the Chief Minister Child Shelter Scheme. For the successful operation of the scheme, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ensured that the construction and management of these houses will be done as per the quality standards. For this, the government has also selected consultants through a tender process, so that the highest level of services provided in these child protection homes can be ensured.

Strong efforts of CM Yogi in protecting child rights

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's aim is that no child in the state should feel unsafe or neglected. CM Yogi said that protecting the rights of children should be our priority, because they are the future of the society. Under this scheme, specially trained staff will be appointed to protect the rights of children, who will be serious about their safety and welfare. In these child protection homes, children will be provided services according to their age and needs, so that they can remain mentally and physically healthy.
