Showing anger to captain Shoi Hope cost Alzarri Joseph dearly, the board banned him for so many matches.

West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been banned for two matches for leaving the field without permission due to differences with captain Shai Hope during the third ODI against England. West Indies Cricket Board gave its official information on Friday (8 November).

During the fourth over of the innings at Bridgetown, Joseph was unhappy with the field placement and could be seen arguing with Hope. He dismissed Jordan Cox on the fourth ball, but did not celebrate with his team. Instead he immediately went back to bowl. After the over was over, Joseph angrily left the field without informing and went to the dressing room. Due to this, West Indies had to start the fifth over with only ten fielders.

Joseph returned to the field to start the sixth over, but could not start bowling until the 12th over. Joseph took 2 wickets for 45 runs in his quota of ten overs, apart from Cox, he made Dan Mousley his victim.

Although Joseph apologized publicly after the incident, he admitted that “my passion got the better of me”, adding that he had “personally apologized to captain Shai Hope, my teammates and management”.

“I also offer my apologies to the West Indies fans – I understand that even the slightest lapse in judgment can have far-reaching effects, and I am very sorry for any disappointment caused.”

West Indies head coach Darren Sammy had expressed his disappointment over the incident and said that this kind of behavior is unacceptable on his cricket ground.

It is noteworthy that West Indies won the third ODI and won the series 2-1. Now there will be a series of five T-20 matches between West Indies and England, the first match of which will be held on Saturday.
