PM Modi slams Congress-NC alliance: ‘Conspiracy’ to revive Article 370 in J&K

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of engaging in a “conspiracy” to revive Article 370.

This comes after the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution demanding the restoration of the controversial article, which was abrogated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in 2019.

Speaking at rallies in Dhule and Nashik, Maharashtra, PM Modi asserted that the alliance’s actions were driven by a desire to undermine the Union Territory’s integration with India. “As soon as the Congress-INDI alliance got the chance to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, they started with their conspiracies against Kashmir,” Modi said, adding that the resolution passed on Wednesday was a direct attack on the Indian Constitution.

PM Modi highlighted the BJP’s opposition to the resolution and the subsequent removal of their MLAs from the assembly. “When the BJP MLAs protested against this with all their might, they were picked up and thrown out of the assembly,” he said, highlighting the Congress’s alleged disregard for democratic principles.

“Banners were shown in the Jammu and Kashmir parliament in support of article 370. The Congress alliance passed a resolution to implement Article 370 there again… Will the country accept this? When the BJP MLAs protested against this with all their might, they were picked up and thrown out of the assembly. The entire country will have to understand the truth of Congress and its alliance,” He said in his address.

He vehemently declared that the country would not accept the resolution, reiterating his commitment to upholding the integrity of the Indian Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. “Till Modi is there, Congress won’t be able to do anything in Kashmir. Only Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s Constitution will run there. No power can bring back 370,” he asserted.

Modi further accused the Congress-NC alliance of attempting to dismantle the reservation system for Dalits and backward classes in J&K, claiming their actions were a betrayal of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision.

“These people again want the Constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar to be removed from Jammu and Kashmir. These people again want the reservation that the Dalits and Valmiki community to be snatched away,” he said, highlighting the Congress’s alleged anti-Dalit stance.
