Simdega: Rahul Gandhi during election campaign in Simdega stressed on fighting to protect the Constitution and challenged those who want to weaken its principles. He said there is no mention of the word “forest dwellers” in the Constitution and tribal communities are the first inhabitants of the country, whose rights over water, forests and land should be protected.

Rahul Gandhi expressed concern over the snatching of tribal land in the name of development and said that if a factory is set up on their land then the children there should get jobs. He also said that SC, ST, OBC and minority communities constitute 90 percent of the population in the country, but their participation in constitutional and media institutions is very less.

He criticized the government for waiving off loans worth Rs 16 lakh crore of a few rich people, while the loan waiver of farmers was argued to be breaking the habit. Rahul Gandhi promised to conduct caste-based census, implement more than 50 percent reservation and increase reservation for SC, ST, OBC communities. He assured abolition of Agniveer scheme, health insurance up to Rs 15 lakh for each family, MSP on paddy at Rs 3200, price of gas cylinder reduced to Rs 400 and increase in social welfare schemes for weaker sections.

He criticized the government's inaction on the Manipur crisis, saying that the Prime Minister did not go there when Manipur was burning.
