Goa batters fall short of world record: 606-run Partnership
Goa and Arunachal Pradesh were facing each other from the 13th of November at the Goa Cricket Association in Ranji Trophy 2024.
Goa won the toss and had decided to bat first, but could unfortunately only make a total of 84 runs on the opening day. This happened mainly due to the remarkable performance of Arjun Tendulkar as he bagged 5 wickets for just 25 runs.
Goa suffered an early setback as Ishaan Gadekar was dismissed for just 3 runs. By the time Suyash Prabhudssai was dismissed at 73 off 64 balls, the team had already made 121 runs. Snehal Kauthankar then joined hands with Kashyap Bakle, and showcased a historic partnership.
Kauthankar smashed a triple century, which came out to be the third fastest in the history of first-class cricket. This also recorded to be the second fastest against Arunachal Pradesh. Bakle also hit a triple century in 269 balls, which came out to be the 9th fastest in history of first-class cricket.
Kashyap and Snehal together made a partnership of 606 runs for the third wicket. They were on their way to make a world record but fell short of just 19 runs, otherwise they would have made the record for the highest partnership in the history of first-class cricket.
The current record for the highest partnership is held by Sri Lanka pair of Mahela HJayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who have scored 624 runs against South Africa.
