New Zealand Cricket Board has informed on Friday that Saudi is taking retirement. However, he will be available for selection if his team reaches the final of the World Test Championship, which is to be played at Lord's from June 11.

Tim Southee said in a statement issued by New Zealand Cricket, “Growing up I dreamed of representing New Zealand. It has been a great honor to play for the Black Caps for 18 years. But now is the right time to step away from a game that has given me so much.

“Test cricket holds a special place in my heart, so to be able to play such a big series against the same opponents against whom my Test career began all those years ago, and on three grounds that are incredibly special to me “It feels like the perfect way to bid farewell to the Black Caps.”

Saudi's figures are excellent

Tim Southee has played 104 test matches for New Zealand so far, in which he has taken 385 wickets at an average of 29.88. During this period, he has achieved the feat of taking 4 wicket hauls 19 times, 15 wicket hauls 15 times and taking 10 wickets in a match once. Apart from this, in 161 ODI matches he has taken 221 wickets at an average of 33.70, while in 126 T20I matches he has taken 164 wickets at an average of 22.38.

Saudi has hit more sixes than Rohit-Sehwag

Tim Southee has also won many matches for the Kiwi team with the bat. He has scored 2185 runs in tests. During this period, he has hit 93 sixes. If we look at the figures, Saudi has hit more sixes than Indian legends Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag. Hitman has 88 sixes in his name in Test, while Sehwag hit 91 sixes in his Test career.
