Here’s why PM Modi is being conferred with Dominica’s highest national award- The Week
The Commonwealth of Dominica announced that it will confer its highest national award to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contributions to the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This comes after India had sent 70,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to Dominica in February 2021.
PM Modi will be given the Dominica Award of Honour during his visit to Guyana’s Georgetown from November 19 to 21 to attend the India-CariCom (Caribbean Community) Summit.
During the meeting, Dominican President Sylvanie Burton will confer the award to the PM.
The Dominican PMO stated that the award is in recognition of his contributions to Dominica during the pandemic and his dedication to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, who will also attend the meeting, said Modi is a “true partner” of the country when it faced a health crisis.
Skerrit said the award is a symbol of the country’s gratitude for his support.
