South Korean actor Song Jae Rim, 39, remembered for his talent and kindness
Dan Triciting Soompireported that Song was found deceased on Nov. 12 at his Seoul home by a friend who had planned to meet him for lunch. While authorities found no signs of foul play, a two-page farewell letter was discovered at the scene.
Song’s passing deeply affected his colleagues and fans. With a 15-year career, he was celebrated for his humility, warm personality, and clean public image.
He began his journey in entertainment as a model, gracing top Korean fashion magazines, before transitioning to acting in 2009. Song gained widespread fame for his role in the 2012 hit series “The Moon Embracing the Sun” alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Han Ga In.

Song went on to star in over 30 dramas and films, including “Fantasy Tower”, “Two Weeks”, and “Secret Love”. A career milestone was his appearance on the reality show “We Got Married”, where he formed a “virtual” couple with actress Kim So Eun. Their chemistry won them the “Best Couple” award at the 2014 MBC Entertainment Awards and sparked romance rumors, which both denied.
The pair later reunited for the drama “Our Gap Soon” in 2016, further cementing their close friendship.
Song was widely regarded as a cheerful and generous individual. Actress Kim So Eun described him as thoughtful and kind, while actor Kim Min Kyo shared his sorrow on Instagram, writing, “Jae Rim, just a month ago, you were speaking so brightly about your work. I will remember you forever. May you rest in peace.”
In 2019, Song quietly volunteered as a motorcycle driver to help South Korean students taking college entrance exams.
Song kept his personal life out of the spotlight, maintaining a low profile. He often shared pictures of his cats on social media but had not updated his accounts since January. His final post featured a self-portrait with a caption hinting at “a long journey ahead.”
Despite his private nature, there were no reported signs of distress or difficulties in his relationships, according to Wikitree.
Song remained active in his career until his passing. He recently completed roles in the dramas “Queen Woo”, and “My Military Valentine”, which finished airing shortly before his death. In October, he performed in the play “The Rose of Versailles”, his final stage appearance.
Naver revealed that the late actor had three unreleased works, including “I’ll Become Rich”, “Death Business”, and “Salmon”.
On Nov. 13, the producer of the film “Collapse: The Man Who Failed at Business”—formerly titled “Death Business”—announced its mid-January 2025 release. The film has been dedicated as a tribute to Song, who portrayed a key character, as reported by Sportskeeda.
