After scoring a brilliant century in the first match, Sanju scored another century by playing an explosive innings in the fourth T20 match. In the match played in Johannesburg, Sanju thrashed the South African bowlers, but one of his shots not only hurt the South African team and its fans but actually hurt a fan as well. It proved impossible for that fan to avoid Sanju's shot and the ball hit him hard on his face.
The last match of the T20 series between India and South Africa was played on Friday 15 November in Johannesburg. The future of the series was to be decided by this match and Sanju Samson played an important role in it. Keeping aside the disappointment of being out on 0 in the last two matches, the Indian opener once again showed the fans his explosive style of sending the ball out of the boundary. Samson's bat again rained sixes, which scared the South African bowlers and their fans, but one six proved to be a real killer.
The ball hit Sanju's face and a six was hit.
This incident happened in the 10th over of the Indian innings. Part-time spinner Tristan Stubbs came to bowl but Sanju did the same to him as he did to the main bowlers. Sanju hit 2 consecutive sixes in this over but one of his shots was so dangerous that it hit the railing in the stands. There were many spectators sitting near him but one female fan was not so lucky. After hitting the railing, the ball came towards him rapidly and he did not even get a chance to save himself. The result was that the ball hit him hard on the left side of his face and cheek. This scared every spectator present there. The fan screamed in pain but bystanders immediately helped him. Also, an 'ice pack' was applied on his face, which helped in reducing the pain.
Scored second consecutive century, made a big score
Sanju hoped that the fan would not be seriously injured by his shot, but even this minor accident did not stop him. After this, the Indian batsman continued the same attack in the next 10 overs and scored a century in just 51 balls. This was Sanju's second century in the series and third century of his career overall. Sanju scored unbeaten 109 runs in just 56 balls which included 6 fours and 9 sixes. Not only Sanju but Tilak Verma, who came at number three, also scored a brilliant century for the second consecutive match. Tilak completed his century in 41 balls and made an unbeaten partnership of 210 runs with Sanju, on the basis of which Team India scored 283 runs.
