Captain Fresh sells 100 tonnes of fresh fish and over three dozen varieties of seafood. The company operates more than 50 collection centers and serves over 2,500 shops in the coastal regions of India. Captain Fresh’s primary aim is to streamline the supply chain and ensure its robustness. The company guarantees delivery by 6 a.m. the next morning, enhancing trust and minimizing the chances of seafood becoming stale.
Recently, the company has completed several rounds of funding, including a Series C round worth $20 million. So far, it has raised a total investment of $12.5 million. The company is now looking to expand its business into the United States and Europe and aims to make the seafood industry more transparent. The company’s valuation is currently Rs 4,000 crore.
In June 2021, the company raised $12 million in funding, guided by Excel Partners and its current investor, Matrix Partners India. Utham recognized the opportunities in the industry and decided to quit his job to pursue success in this sector.
