Diplomat Anurag Shrivastava : The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday announced that Shri Anurag Srivastava, a 1999 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Mauritius. Srivastava, who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the ministry, is expected to take charge soon.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a brief statement on Saturday that Srivastava is expected to take charge soon. Before his appointment as Joint Secretary in the Nepal-Bhutan Division in March 2021, he served as the Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs for about a year. Anurag also served as India's Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union from September 2016 to February 2020.

In his nearly 25-year long career as a diplomat, he also served in several Indian missions abroad, including as head of the political wing at the High Commission of New Delhi in Colombo and the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in Geneva. Includes tenure. In Colombo, he was closely involved in the formulation and implementation of India's development projects in Sri Lanka.

He has also held various positions in the Foreign Office in New Delhi, including the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran Division.

Srivastava obtained degrees in engineering and business management after a brief stint in the corporate sector before joining the Foreign Service. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Oxford.
