Please note that Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reached Maharani Lakshmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi today to get information about this incident. Brajesh Pathak said here that a fire safety audit was conducted here last February. A mock drill was also conducted in June. How and why this incident happened can be said only after the investigation report comes. Financial assistance will be provided to the families of newborn babies.

Along with this, Deputy Chief Minister Pathak said, “The local administration has been asked to submit the investigation report within 24 hours. At present, 10 newborns have died, 7 have been identified, 3 are yet to be identified. DNA testing will be done if necessary. Prima facie it appears to be a short circuit inside the oxygen concentrator. We will set up a helpline number for missing newborns. I am personally monitoring the situation and our thoughts are with the affected family.”

Expressing grief over the accident, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has also surrounded the Yogi government. He said today that the news of death of 10 children and injury of many children due to fire in Jhansi Medical College is very sad and worrying. Emotional tribute to everyone. The cause of the fire is said to be fire in the oxygen concentrator. This is simply a case of negligence on the part of medical management and administration or poor quality oxygen concentrator. Necessary punitive action should be taken against all those responsible in this case.
