“That was something we discussed…”Suryakumar Yadav drops a massive revelation on the preparation talk ahead of the T 20 series against South Africa

In the fourth T20I in Johannesburg on Saturday where the Indian team emerged victorious by 135 runs to win the series 3-1, the Indian captain, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that there was nothing special to their overall dominance of South Africa.

Candidly speaking at the presentation ceremony after the match, the Indian captain said that before the commencement of the four-match series, there were certain strategies that were put in place which helped the team understand its responsibilities.

‘There’s nothing surprising about dealing with the conditions. We had a strong plan as soon as we reached Durban. We won the series and were up 2-1, however, we were intent on good habits, results be damned,’ he admitted.

“It came about pretty easily. One good innings from them is hard for me to pick out, that was something we discussed and they did deliver,” he continued.

Suryakumar, who was part of the team in its previous assignment, also stated that the team had an idea of how the pitch would behave in the second innings and also stated that the team’s presence is highly confident because they are the reigning T20 World Cup holders.

“When we went on a tour last year, we noticed that this wicket had something once the lights were out and the weather got cooler. It helps a lot if one is winning any ICC event. I am not sure how to express what we all went through after winning there,’’ he said.

“It is very difficult from a touring South African perspective; this is a special victory, and it will be with me forever,” he added

The captain who was sitted in the dugout with the coaches revealed that the dugout was simply enjoying batting exhibition of Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma who both went on to score centuries for India who scored a massive total of 284 runs.

“(The coaching staff) were sitting and enjoying the show, they told the boys whatever you want, you do, we will sit and enjoy. Even today, they say if you want to bat first and flood the board with runs, do it,’ he concluded.

After the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav was appointed the captain of the team. This team has a brand of cricket that is aggressive as evidenced by the fact that the team regularly scores above 200, which means that there is a lot of emphasis on power hitting and playing for the team rather than individuals. The team is yet to face a series loss as it pursues its ambition in the shortest format of the game.
