Mohammad Rizwan expressed grief over Pakistan's defeat in the series against Australia
Islamabad Islamabad. Pakistan had no chance to travel to Australia for a three-match T20 series. The visitors have secured important wins as Australia take a 2-0 lead in the white-ball series. Pakistan's fielding was a major point of debate in the second T20I, as the visitors made crucial mistakes, ruining their chances of leveling the series.
White-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan rued the missed chances which led to the defeat for the Men in Green. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Pakistan's new captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed regret over the team's defeat at the hands of Australia. Rizwan praised the efforts of the bowlers, but also stressed that missed chances cost them a lot, which resulted in the team losing the second T20 match. The bowlers bowled really well. But if you drop important catches, it will cause you loss in the game. We all know that the pitch was not easy to bat on. The catches were very important,” said Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan.
Pakistan's fielding deteriorated after Salman Aga and Shaheen Afridi dropped the catch of Marcus Stoinis, giving them two lives. Even Babar Azam dropped the catch of Tim David during the game. Talking about the match, the second T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground was a low-scoring match after Australia opted to bat first. Openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short made a 50-run partnership in three overs, giving the Australian team a good start. But Pakistan's Haris Rauf destroyed the batsmen after dismissing Fraser.
He also dismissed captain Josh Inglis for zero and Rauf took four wickets. Australia were all out for 147 and Pakistan had a solid chance to capitalize on the opportunity. However, the visiting team had a poor start and could not counter the dominance of the Australian bowling. Pakistan's batting collapsed drastically after Spencer Johnson took five wickets. Pakistan were restricted to 19.4 overs and managed to score 134 runs, falling 13 runs short of the target. The Australian team is now leading in the series and will aim for a clean sweep. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be aiming to achieve a consolation win at the Bellerive Oval.
