An ambulance erupted in flames Friday outside the emergency room of the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital in central Nghe An Province, shortly after the driver and a patient had exited the vehicle.
A loud explosion was heard around noon as the vehicle, belonging to Nghe An 115 Hospital, was parked near the hospital’s main lobby. Flames and thick smoke quickly spread across a large area.
At the time of the incident, several patients were still inside the emergency room, located just 3-5 meters from the burning ambulance. Medical staff swiftly moved the patients to safety as the fire intensified.
Firefighters from the Nghe An police arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of local civilians, managed to control the flames within 10 minutes. However, the ambulance was completely destroyed, reduced to a charred metal frame.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
