PM Modi left for Brazil from Nigeria to attend G-20, see the complete schedule here

Abuja: After completing his first visit to Nigeria, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday left for Brazil to attend the G-20 summit. Earlier, he held bilateral talks with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also interacted with the Indian community.

PM Modi reached the Nigerian capital on Sunday morning on his first visit to the West African country after a gap of 17 years. After the conclusion of his visit, PM Modi posted on Instagram that he thanked Nigeria for a productive visit. This will strengthen and energize India-Nigeria friendship.

Highest honor received in Nigeria

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit in Abuja, Nigeria, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a post on Twitter. During this time he was awarded Nigeria's national award Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). PM Modi has become the second foreign dignitary to receive this honour.

Bilateral meeting with Tinbu

PM Modi held bilateral talks with President Tinubu and said India gives high priority to its strategic partnership with Nigeria and will work towards enhancing ties in a range of sectors including defence, energy and trade.

Also met the Indian community

Prime Minister Modi described the Indian expatriate community, numbering around 60,000, as a key pillar of India-Nigeria relations and thanked Tinubu for ensuring their welfare. The Prime Minister also announced that India was sending 20 tonnes of relief material for Nigerians affected by floods last month.
