PM Modi to be honored with Nigeria's highest honour, 'The Grand Commander of the Order of Niger'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be honored with Nigeria's highest honor 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger' (GCON). This honor will be presented to PM Modi today (Sunday) from Nigeria. This will be the 17th international award given by any country to Prime Minister Modi. The special thing is that PM Modi will be the second big personality in the world to receive this highest honor of Nigeria. Before this, Queen Elizabeth is the only foreign celebrity who was awarded this award in 1969.

PM Modi helped the Caribbean island nation during the Corona epidemic

Earlier, Dominica had announced to honor Prime Minister Modi with its highest national award. PM Modi will be given this honor for his dedication to helping the Caribbean island nation during the Corona pandemic and strengthening the partnership between the two countries. The Prime Minister's Office of Dominica said that President Sylvain Berton will confer the Dominica Honor on PM Modi during the India-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit.

An official statement from Dominica's PM Office had said, “In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi provided 70,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Dominica. “This gift enabled Dominica to provide assistance to its Caribbean neighbours.”

It said the award recognizes India's support to Dominica in healthcare, education and information technology under the leadership of PM Modi. Prime Minister Modi reached Nigeria for the first time on Sunday. Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu warmly welcomed PM Modi at Abuja Airport. This visit is being considered special to strengthen the relations between India and Nigeria.

In this three-nation visit, PM Modi will first visit Nigeria (November 16 to 21), then attend the G20 summit in Brazil, and finally visit Guyana. This visit to Guyana will be the first state visit by an Indian Prime Minister in the last 50 years.
