Mumbai Mumbai. Harshit Mahimkar produced a brilliant performance to qualify for the finals of the Boys Under-17 and Men's Singles categories at the Maharashtra State Open badminton tournament here on Sunday.
In the men's singles semi-finals, unseeded Mahimkar defeated second seed Shwetank Karnik 21-13, 21-10 in 34 minutes at the Willingdon Sports Club.
In the Boys Under-17 semi-finals, Mahimkar overcame the challenge of Sumit Maday 21-16, 21-15 to win and set himself up for the top two clash.
In the second semi-final of men's singles, Soham Phatak defeated top seed Tanay Mehendle 21-11, 21-8.
But in the second semi-final of Boys Under-17 category, Mehendel gave a tough fight and defeated Yash Gurav 9-21, 21-17, 21-15.
Prisha Shah defeated Anushka Bhise 21-16, 21-15, while Devanshi Shinde defeated Shravani Patil 13-21, 21-17, 21-15 to reach the women's singles final.
Fourth seed Khushi Pahwa defeated top seed Shravani 18-21, 21-14, 28-26 in the girls under-17 semi-finals, while in the other match, Prisha defeated Rutu Kitlekar 21-12, 21-12. .
In the men's doubles semi-finals, No. 1 seeds Arjun Suresh and Siddhesh Raut registered a 18-21, 21-10, 21-16 win over Deepak Jaitley and Mishil Shah.
The seeded pair of Nidhish More and Soham Phatak defeated Mayur Walgunje and Mohit Aswani 21-16, 22-20.
