Following their marital troubles, an insider told Us Weekly that the 44-year-old singer has been going through a “incredibly difficult time.”
A source told the magazine that Simpson and Johnson, who have both been spotted without their wedding bands in recent months, are “living separately right now.” The estranged couple, who got married in 2014, are juggling their marital difficulties while considering their kids’ welfare. The Employee of the Month actress and the former NFL player have three children together: Ace, 11, Birdie, 3, and Maxwell, 12.
As they “try to figure out a separation without disrupting their kids’ lives as much as possible,” the couple is “still figuring things out,” the insider continued.
However, after Johnson was seen on November 12 without his wedding band, the rumors of their impending divorce resurfaced. Another insider informed the site amid the escalating rumors that “Jessica is heartbroken” and that the With You singer has been going through “an incredibly difficult time.” The source continued by saying that “neither of them has worn a ring in several months,” and that “[it was] not an easy decision for her.”
In an interview with TMZ, Ashlee Simpson Ross, the sister of Take My Breath Away singer, refuted the media’s mounting rumors and speculation on her divorce. According to an insider, “they are both really committed to the wellbeing of the kids and trying to figure out what’s best for them,” even if the pair has not yet publicly addressed the rumors.
