Babar Azam lashed out by fans after consecutive failures in the T 20 series
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket squad was many a times ridiculed and disparaged by the fans for his abysmal performance in this T20 series against the Australians. After winning the second T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday by 13 runs against Pakistan, Australia went up in the series 2-0, with no possible way for Pakistan to level the scores. Babar Azam scored three runs in the first T20I and two runs in the second T20I, heightening the doubts on his place in the T20I squad. In the course of the match in Sydney, Babar was performing fielding duties close to the boundary line, where there were overzealous spectators, shouting and abusing.
Indeed, it was a distasteful episode when a member of the audience stood up and began calling out Babar, all the while telling the ex Pakistan’s skipper to face him. Even though the man had effectively irritated Babar, the cricketer still refrained from extending his palms to the people who were applauding and calling on him.
A clip making rounds on social media shows a man telling Babar that since he did not deserve to be in Pakistan’s T20I team, he should go back and stay in Lahore which is his home.
In Sydney, Spencer Johnson gave Australia a sensational 13-run victory over Pakistan, taking 5-26 to clinch the three-match T20 series with one match remaining.
as looking to chase a target of 148 runs after Haris Rauf’s 4-22 reduced the Australians, Pakistan’s batting abruptly collapsed with them being all bowled out for 134 in the last over with the innings high of 52 runs coming from Usman Khan.
Australia, overturned rain and their first match opponents in brisbane by 29 runs with the last match coming up on Monday in Hobart.
“It felt as if we were right in the zone, or almost made it there and I think that the boulders in their way was quite brilliant,” revealed the Australian skipper Josh Inglis.
“There are plenty of avenues in this team that I can seek. Every time I looked up at Johnson this evening, he was taking a wicket. They were really good the way they played tonight.”
The third and final match will be played on Monday at the Ninja Stadium in Hobart.
