Today we’re discussing about this Bollywood actor who not only left us awestruck with his screen presence but also made a name in Hollywood. He is none other than Kabir Bedi. He was born on January 16, 1946, in Lahore, British India (now in Punjab, Pakistan). His father Baba Pyare Lal Singh Bedi was a Punjabi Sikh author while his mother, Freda Bedi, was an English woman from Derby, England, who became famous as the first western woman to ordained in Tibetan Buddhism.

Bedi started his career in theatre before making debut in Hindi cinema. He also worked as a tourist guide while studying in college at Delhi University.

Kabir Bedi made his debut in 1971 with Hulchul alongside Zeenat Aman. It was not a superhit, but gained him more films ahead. He first gained fame through historical epic Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love story as he starred as the Emperor Shah Jahn. Then, actor signed Rakesh Roshan’s Khoon Bhari Maang alongside Rekha and portrayed the role of her second husband. After this, Bedi did small yet impactful roles in Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na, Hrithik Roshan’s Kites, Govinda’s Showman, Akshay Kumar’s Blue and more.

In Italy and Europe, the actor is renowned for his role as the pirate Sandokan in a popular Italian TV series and as the villan Gobinda in the 1983 James Bond film ‘Octopussy.’ He remains the first Indian actor who started out in Hindi films, worked in Hollywood films and became an international star.

Talking about his personal life, Bedi married four times and had three children. His first marriage was with an Odissi dancer Protima Bedi. Their daughter Pooja Bedi is a magazine/newspaper columnist. He also had a son Siddharth, who died by suicide at the age of 26. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

As his marriage to Protima began to break down, he started a relationship with Parveen Babi. They never got married. He later married fashion designer Susan Humphreys and have a son Adam who is an international model and actor in Hindi cinema.

In the early 1990s, Bedi married TV actor and RJ Nikki Bedi. They had no children and divorced in 2005. After that, he started dating Parveen Dusanj, with whom he married a day before his 70th birthday.
