All you need to know about a tale of an Italian Boy During Post World War II in Italy

The Children’s Train OTT Release: The emotional Italian Family drama based during the World War 2 in Italy is all set to premiere on 4th December on Netflix. The film is based on a novel by Viola Ardone.

Plot

The story of the film follows the life of a 7 year old boy named Amerigo whose mother decides to send him to a wealthier family in the North so that he will be able to live a better life.

Amerigo belongs to a very poor family in Naples. The story took place in Italy during the World War 2 when the entire world was reeling under the after-effects of the war especially in the south.

The film was also premiered in the 19th Rome Film Festival in October 2024. The 7 year old kid Amerigo lives with his mother in Naples, his mother does all kinds of jobs to arrange for a one-time meal for herself and her son.

However one day as a part of the country’s initiative, all the children of the poor families were sent to Northern Italy in a train to live a better life with their host parents.

Amerigo’s mother also tells her b7 year old son to board the train so that he will be able to get proper food and education which is not possible in Naples. Its hard for a 7 year old to live without his own mother

But his mother pushes him to board the train. Meanwhile, Amerigo is welcomed by a couple, a woman named Derna who takes care of him. The 7 year old boy learns a lot from his train’s journey..

The author of the film is a former Italian teacher who had also worked in academic publishing.
