32 user beams, 48 Gbps capacity
GSAT N-2 is an approximately 4700 kg Ka-Ka (Ka-Ka) band satellite with 32 user beams covering the entire Indian subcontinent including Andaman-Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep. Of these, 8 narrow spot beams are dedicated to the North-East region, while 24 wide beams are dedicated to the rest of India. These 32 beams will be supported from hub stations located within the Indian territory. The Ka band high-throughput communication payload has a capacity of about 48 GB per second and will connect remote villages of the country to the Internet. The satellite is being sent on a 14-year mission. It will also enhance in-flight connectivity (IFC) with broadband services across the Indian region. The propulsion system of the satellite is also unique.
