Now the electricity department is going to take strict steps to recover electricity bills from such people. If you also have outstanding electricity bill, then pay it quickly otherwise the electricity in your house may go off at any time. According to the information received, the electricity department has outstanding of more than Rs 5000 crore. A notice will soon be issued to consumers regarding this.

67 lakh consumers did not pay electricity bill

According to a data, 2 lakh 71,511 consumers in Purvanchal, 33 lakh 17,368 consumers in Paschimanchal, 22 lakh 62,198 consumers in Madhyanchal, 8 lakh 70,301 in Dakshinanchal, 19 thousand 740 consumers in Kesco have not paid the electricity bill. This shocking data is putting the electricity department in debt.

5000 crore dues of electricity department

There are reasons behind non-payment of electricity bills, one of which is the electricity department not paying electricity bills to consumers on time. Due to which consumers are billed late and the bill increases. Many consumers are helpless when a large sum of money comes at once. After which the bill keeps getting delayed and the bill becomes a big bill in one go. After which the consumers become so unable to pay the bills that they stop paying the bills.

Department preparing for power outage

The power corporation is suffering huge losses due to non-payment of electricity bills. Now showing strictness regarding this, preparations are being made to send a notice to the consumers soon. However, it is being considered that consumers should be given some convenience in paying electricity bills. More than 67 lakh consumers have to pay electricity bills.

The objective of the department is that those never paid consumers should also deposit their bills after this notice. On the other hand, the department is also making preparations to reduce the electricity bill rates in UP. Electricity rates become expensive from 6 pm to 10 pm. During peak hours, power companies have to buy electricity at expensive rates. Therefore, the department is making preparations to make consumers aware to use less electricity at such times.
