This is your third consecutive web series hit as 'Rita Sanyal', how do you feel?
Success always feels good, especially in the film industry, success matters a lot. This is the place where along with Saraswati, the blessings of Lakshmi also matter a lot. I remember one thing Anees Bhai (director Anees Bazmee) said about this. Once he had said, 'Amit, in this industry it takes a lot of time to get your point across. Unless you deliver hit after hit, people don't trust you. When you start giving hits, then people think that you are right. That means the criterion is not your words, but your success. There is success.
This is your third web-series, has people's perspective changed after this hat-trick?
I think the film industry should believe in good stories more than me. One should trust books. After 'Bichchu Ka Khel' and 'Commander Karan Saxena', 'Rita Sanyal' is the third web series based on my books, which is a hit. If the industry gets confidence from the success of the shows, then it is also a good thing.
How did the first web-series 'Bichchu Ka Khel' start? How did you get in touch with 'Ekta Kapoor'?
I would like to give all the credit for this to only one person, Baljit Chadha ji. He was the content head at Star Plus, and that's where I met him. Later he joined 'Balaji'. He had great faith in me and my stories. It was he who introduced me to 'Ekta Kapoor'. It is also surprising that I narrated the first story 'Bichchu Ka Khel' to 'Ekta ji' and she immediately decided to make a web-series on that story. I have never seen anyone so fast in taking decisions.
Are you doing anything next with 'Ekta Kapoor'?
Absolutely. He has also taken the rights of some more of my novels, work on which will start soon.
Till now series were made on novels, now series are also being made on the characters of your novels, how do you see it?
This is a big sign. Earlier, films or series were made only in Hollywood on the characters of novels. Like the 'James Bond Series' of famous novelist 'Ian Fleming' or the 'Sherlock Holmes Series' of 'Sir Arthur Conan Dial'. This is a good thing, a new beginning has been made in the Hindi industry with 'Commander Karan Saxena' and 'Rita Sanyal Series' and the audience has also liked this beginning very much.
Which series or books are coming next?
First of all, my new novel 'Artist' is coming. That's a murder mystery. It is a supernatural thriller. In this novel, 'Artist' has been called a killer. The killer who says that murder is also an 'art'. That's why he likes to call himself an artist. The novel will be released simultaneously in both Hindi and English languages. At present the novel is in the press and will reach the readers soon. Apart from this, a web-series and a film will also be announced soon.
