The G20 was formed in 1999 and its main objective was to handle global financial crises and promote economic growth. This conference is held every year and the heads of state of the member countries participate in it.

The G20 group of heads of state gathers to discuss global contemporary issues. The influence and importance of G20 is also because its member countries account for about 85% of the world's total GDP and about 75% of global trade. Apart from this, it accounts for two-thirds of the global population and 60% of the world's land area.
The G20 was established in 1999 following the Asian financial crisis as a forum for finance ministers and central bank controllers to discuss global economic and financial issues.
