Mohsin Naqvi turns down proposal of hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has re-confirmed that his country is not going with the idea of hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 in a hybrid model. He has even offered to help India regarding their travel issues, but has asked them to be specific.

Mohsin Naqvi approved the media reports, stating that Pakistan has the hosting rights for the mega tournament, and wrote to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and request Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the reason why they would not be visiting the country.

Mohsin even emphasized that Pakistan is not interested in going with a hybrid model, adding that he is waiting for an answer from the INCC to decide what should be done in future. In a letter to ICC, the BCCI announced that the senior men’s team will not be visiting Pakistan for Champions Trophy, which is going to begin on February or March of the upcoming year.

The reluctance by PCB to follow a hybrid model and the position of BCCI has caused a dead spot and postponed the release of the schedule for this highly expected eight-team competition.

Every other team that has qualified for the Champions Trophy is ready to come. No one has any concern. If India have any concerns, we will talk, and we will ensure that concerns are taken care of. I don’t think there is any reason why India can’t come to Pakistan. Hopefully, all the teams will come,” said Mohsin Naqvi.

Sports and politics are separate things. I don’t want countries mixing them. We are hoping for the best. ICC will announce the schedule; I am sure they will announce it soon so that we can finalise the preparations. All the questions that we had, we have written to them. We are awaiting a reply,” he added.
