New Delhi: Renowned Bollywood singer and musician, Shekhar Ravjiani, has delivered multiple hits in his long career. While most thought that he had just begun gradually phasing out of his vocal career, the singer made a shocking revelation on his Instagram account. In a lengthy note, Shekhar Ravjiani revealed that he was diagnosed with left vocal chord paresis.

For unversed, the singer’s diagnosis entails a voice disorder that occurs when the vocal cords are unable to open or close properly. Shekhar Ravjiani essentially lost his voice for an astonishing 2-year period. Here is what the musician had to say.

In his note on Instagram, Shekhar Ravjiani revealed that after his diagnosis, he was pessimistic about his recovery and believed that he would not be able to sing again. However, he explained that he did not stop pushing himself. Travelling all the way to San Diego, USA, Shekhar Ravjiani met with Dr Erin Walsh. Shekhar expressed his gratitude towards the doctor who made him believe that his condition was not chronic.

Being candid about his tough recovery, he revealed that he begged his doctor to fix him. Shekhar Ravjiani began hating the sound of his voice. However, it was the medical professionals who kept his spirit afloat and worked on his vocal cords. “Her sheer determination, dedication and her positivity made my paralysed left vocal cord come back to normal within a few weeks,” wrote Shekhar Ravjiani.

How is Shekhar Ravjani doing now?

Well, the note ended on a good note as the singer revealed that he is ‘absolutely fine’ currently and can sing almost better than he used to. After his tough journey, the singer has had a newfound respect for those who have lost their voice post the COVID-19 pandemic. Sending prayers to such troubled individuals, Shekhar Ravjiani assured them that there is a solution to their problems. “There is a way. Just be positive and believe,” wrote Shekhar Ravjiani.
