What led to ‘Amaran’ row? Watch miscreats hurling petrol bomb at Tirunelveli theatre- The Week

Two unidentified people hurled a petrol bomb at a movie theatre in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday morning, allegedly in protest against the screening of Warninga Tamil movie released late last month. Local police have registered a case and are trying to find the culprits.

Police are examining the CCTV footage near Alangar Cinemas located in Melapalayam, Tirunelveli, to identify the culprits. No one was injured in the bombing.

What led to Warning controvery?

The bomb hurling is reportedly the result of a backlash from certain group over the alleged portrayal of Muslims and Kashmiris in bad light in Warning. On November 8, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) protested against the film in Coimbatore.

Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, Warning is about Major Mukund and his wife Indhu. The lead roles are played by Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi.

Major Mukund was martyred udring a 2014 operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. He was awarded Ashok Chakra posthumously.

Warning has raked in Rs 150 crore within the first two weeks. It was released on October 31.
