Satwik-Chirag set to return for the first time post-Paris Olympics

The Indian ace pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will return to action at the BWF World Tour for the first time since their disappointing exit at the Paris Olympics.

The former World No.1 men’s doubles pair will compete at the China Masters Super 750 Tournament in Shenzhen, China, scheduled to take place from November 19 to 24.

Satwik and Chirag will enter the tournament as the sixth-seeded pair and will start their campaign with a first-round clash against the Chinese Taipei pairing of Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan.

They will aim to make a strong comeback with a deep run in the tournament, leaving behind the disappointment of their Paris Olympics performance.

Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen and Priyanshu Rajawat will represent India in the men’s singles category, starting their competition against Malaysian and Indonesian opponents, respectively.

Lakshya will face Lee Zii Jia in a rematch of the Paris Olympics bronze medal match, where the latter prevailed, leaving Sen with a heartbreaking fourth-place finish. Priyanshu will face Chico Wardoyo tomorrow.

In the women’s singles category, PV Sindhu will lead Indian hopes, beginning her campaign with a first-round clash against Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan.

Malvika Bansod, Aakarshi Kashyap, and Anupama Upadhyaya are the other three Indian women’s singles players competing in the event.

World Tour Final on sight

This is the final tournament that will count towards qualification for the World Tour Finals 2024. All players will do their best to secure a spot at the prestigious event.

India’s women’s doubles pair, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are also vying for a place in the season finale. A deep run in this tournament will confirm their qualification for the event for the first time.

They will face the Chinese Taipei pair of Hu Ling Fang and Jheng Yu Chieh in their first-round match on Wednesday.
