New Zealand cricketer caught taking cocaine, was called India's era, now banned from playing cricket

Sports Desk : Former New Zealand fast bowler Doug Bracewell was caught taking drugs. After which he had to face a one month ban from cricket. Doug Bracewell tested positive for cocaine use earlier this year. After which he was banned from cricket for a month. Details of the ban were made public for the first time by the New Zealand 'Sport Integrity Commission'.

The 34-year-old player, who played 28 Tests for New Zealand, was found positive in the test after the domestic T20 match between Central District and Wellington in January. He was chosen 'Player of the Match' in this match. In view of Bracewell's good conduct, the three-month ban was reduced to one month. The one-month ban was implemented in April this year. Which means that Bracewell can now return to cricket.

“According to our investigation, he used cocaine out of competition and was not related to his sporting performance,” the commission said. He said, “It is the responsibility of the players to set a positive example. They will have to learn how to live inside and outside the field. His actions influence the players of the coming generation. In such a situation, it is important that they serve as role models by choosing healthy, responsible choices.” New Zealand Cricket (NZC) chief executive Scott Wennink said Bracewell had let himself down by doing so and we were 'disappointed' by his behaviour.
