Retired female professor of Bihar put under digital arrest at home for 2 days, cheated of Rs 3 crore
Cyber criminals defrauded a retired female professor of Patna University of Rs 3.07 crore by making a digital arrest. Posing as a CBI officer and threatening him with arrest in a money laundering case, the miscreants kept him under digital arrest at home for two days in the name of interrogation.
Earlier, an incident of fraud of Rs 2 crore 84 lakh had come to light in the cyber police station. In the name of investigation, they got crores of rupees transferred from them online into their bank account. This is the biggest case of fraud in Patna Cyber Police Station till date. A case was registered in this regard on Saturday. Cyber police is busy identifying the fraudsters on the basis of calls and bank details.

A retired female professor of Patna University lives alone in Patna. His sons are working in Delhi and live there with the family. According to police sources, recently a female professor received a call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as a CBI officer and said that a case of money laundering has been registered against you.
On hearing this the woman was shocked. After some time he received a video call. The video caller was in police uniform. The miscreants talked about digital arrest of him in the money laundering case. After this the victim received calls from many different numbers. The person claiming to be a CBI officer put pressure on them to go through a special procedure in the name of investigation.

In the name of inquiry, the fraudster took bank account and other information from the female professor. Vicious would sometimes talk about himself as a policeman and sometimes as an officer of another agency. They falsely investigated suspicious transactions from the bank account. Meanwhile, Rs 3.07 crore was withdrawn from different bank accounts by cheating.
Realizing that she was cheated, the victim reached the cyber police station and registered a case. When she reached the police station, she was very scared. After filing the case, Vag went to Delhi to be with her children. In this case, Cyber Police Station in-charge and DSP Raghavendra Mani Tripathi said that the police has registered a case in this regard on Saturday, the matter is being investigated.
