Moong Dal Chilla

Required materials-
- 1 cup yellow moong dal, soaked for 2 hours
- 1-2 green chillies, chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- salt as per taste
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion and tomato
- chopped coriander leaves
- oil for cooking
Method of making Moong Dal Chilla-
- First of all, mix soaked moong dal with green chilli, ginger, turmeric and salt and blend it.
- This will make a smooth paste. If needed, you can add some water to it.
- Now pour a spoonful of the batter on a hot non-stick pan and spread it thinly like a dosa.
- Add chopped onion, tomato and coriander leaves on top.
- Now add some oil on the edges and cook from one side till it turns golden brown, now turn it and cook from the other side also.
- finally, serve it hot with green chutney or curd.
Dal Paratha
If you have a habit of eating paratha for breakfast, then you can also make dal paratha and eat it. While moong dal provides you with protein and fiber, consuming whole wheat flour provides complex carbs and more fiber.
Required materials-
- 1 cup cooked moong dal (drain off excess water)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- salt as per taste
- oil or ghee for cooking
Method of making Dal Paratha-
- First of all, mix water and a pinch of salt in wheat flour and knead a soft dough.
- Now add cumin, turmeric, chilli powder and salt to the cooked moong dal and mix.
- Divide the prepared dough into balls and roll each ball.
- Place a portion of the moong dal mixture in the middle.
- Fold the edges and roll again.
- Now add some oil or ghee on a hot pan and cook till it turns golden brown from both the sides.
- You can eat these parathas with curd or pickle.
Dal Idli
There is hardly any better option for breakfast than Dal Idli. Due to fermentation, Dal Idli is considered very good for gut health. Additionally, urad dal is high in protein and essential amino acids, which has a good effect on tissue repair and immune health.
Required materials-
- 1/2 cup urad dal
- 1 1/2 cups rice
- salt as per taste
- oil for lubrication
Method of making Dal Idli-
- First of all, soak urad dal and rice separately for 4-5 hours.
- Now grind them separately and make a smooth paste.
- Mix both the solutions. Also, add salt to them and let them ferment overnight.
- Pour the batter into greased idli molds and steam for 10-12 minutes.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
Dal Poha
If you like to eat poha for breakfast, then try making dal poha. While poha gives you instant energy, chana dal gives you protein. Not only this, both poha and chana dal are rich in iron. This is a very light dish, so you can consume it in the morning.
Required materials-
- 1/2 cup chana dal, soaked for 1 hour
- 1 cup poha
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Curry leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- green chillies, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- salt as per taste
- lemon juice
- fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Method of making Dal Poha-
- First of all, wash the poha thoroughly, drain the water and keep it aside.
- Cook soaked chana dal in a pan with a little water until it becomes soft, but not mushy.
- Now drain the water. After this, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
- Now add curry leaves, turmeric powder, green chilli and onion.
- Fry until onion becomes transparent, then add chana dal and mix well.
- Add poha and salt to it and cook until everything is mixed well.
- Squeeze lemon juice into it and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with curd or serve it as is.
