Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday announced that the government will hold an all-party meeting at the Parliament House Annexe on November 24 (Sunday) ahead of the winter session of Parliament. Rijiju said, “In view of the upcoming winter session of Parliament, there will be an all-party meeting on November 24 at 11 am in the Main Committee Room of Parliament House Annexe.” Earlier, Rijiju had said that the winter session would start from November 25 and end on December 20. Rijiju had said, “The President, on the recommendation of the Government of India, has approved the proposal to convene both Houses of Parliament for the Winter Session, 2024, from November 25 to December 20, 2024 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business). “

Rijiju also said that on November 26 (Constitution Day), a program will be celebrated in the Central Hall of the Constitution House to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution.

Consideration of Waqf Amendment Bill, ONOE

In the winter session, efforts can be seen from the government to pass the Waqf Amendment Bill, which is currently with the JPC of the House. The government may also introduce 'One Nation One Election' Bill. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently stressed that his government is working towards achieving 'one nation one election' by ensuring simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

PM Modi had said, “We are now working towards one nation, one election, which will strengthen India's democracy, make maximum use of India's resources and give new momentum to the country in realizing the dream of a developed India. Today India is moving towards one nation one civil code which is a secular civil code.”

However, the Congress has refused to implement One Nation One Election, saying the Prime Minister will have to take everyone in Parliament into confidence on the issue.
