The Swiss ace shared a brilliant rivalry with the Spaniard on the court but off the court, they have been good friends and the chemistry between the two has been seen time and again. Two years ago 20 Grand Slam champions bid farewell to tennis at the Laver Cup where Nadal was seen in tears. The two were seen hugging and sharing time on the court as Federer dropped curtains on his career.

With Nadal now hanging his racket the eight-time Wimbledon champion recalled a glorious career and remembered all the multiple occasions when they have met. Federer ended his note with a touching message: “I want you to know that your old friend is always cheering for you and will be cheering just as loud for everything you do next.”

Nadal's illustrious career

Rafael Nadal’s career has been a testament to unparalleled skill and resilience. Despite battling numerous injuries over the past few years, the “King of Clay” leaves behind a legacy few can match. Nadal claimed his first major title in 2005 at the French Open where he began his unmatched reign and his last Grand Slam came 17 years later in 2022.

Over the course of his career, Nadal amassed an incredible 92 titles, 22 Grand Slams, and two Olympic gold medals despite playing in an era that also boasted his prime rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

With Nadal’s retirement only Novak Djokovic remains active from the “Big Three,” a trio that has dominated tennis for over two decades. Nadal’s departure, however, signals more than the end of his career as it signifies the conclusion of a golden chapter in tennis history.

As he prepares to hang up his racket Nadal leaves a legacy that transcends tennis. A legacy of passion, perseverance, and sportsmanship. While he may no longer grace the court his influence will resonate with fans and players alike for generations to come.
