Brazilian police arrested those who conspired to assassinate President Lula da Silva, the accused told what was the plan

Brazil on Tuesday arrested four military officers and a former police officer in connection with an alleged plot to overthrow the government of Luiz Inácio 'Lula' da Silva, elected in October 2022. They wanted to prevent the swearing-in of a legitimately elected government and undermine the free exercise of democracy and the authority of the Brazilian judiciary.'

According to the investigation, the alleged conspirators also planned to assassinate Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alcmin and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Justice de Moraes said in his order, 'The conspiracy involved four army personnel trained in the Army Special Forces and a retired high-ranking police officer.
Jair Bolsonaro was also involved
'These actions, which peaked between November and December 2022, were part of a wider conspiracy to carry out a coup,' the judge said. Earlier this year, two top military leaders serving under Jair Bolsonaro told police that the right-wing politician had presented a plan under which he would remain in power even if he lost the election.
Information given to President Lula
However, both denied this and warned Bolsonaro that they would arrest him if he proceeded with the plan, judicial documents released in March revealed. Meanwhile, President Lula was informed about the warrant on Tuesday morning, but has not yet said anything about the police action.
