Lasith Embuldeniya returns to Sri Lankan team for Test series against South Africa

Colombo, 19 November (HS). The Sri Lankan squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa later this month has been announced. Lasith Embuldeniya has returned to the team after more than two years.

The 17-member squad announced on Tuesday is led by Dhananjay de Silva and includes nine batsmen, three specialist spinners and five fast bowlers.

The last of Embuldeniya's 17 Test caps for Sri Lanka was against Australia in June 2022. He is the second left-arm spinner in the team alongside Prabhat Jayasuriya, who took 18 wickets in Sri Lanka's 2-0 series win against New Zealand in September.

Opener Oshada Fernando has also returned to the team after almost a year, while off-spinner Ramesh Mendis has not been selected in the team. The first Test match will be played in Durban on 27 November and the second Test match will be played in Port Elizabeth from 5 December.
