Delhi High Court's order to AAP government; Implement Ayushman Bharat scheme as a pilot project
The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi government to implement the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) as a pilot project in government hospitals within 4 weeks to provide better treatment to patients and improve the functioning of government hospitals in the capital. It involves improving a bad situation. Delhi government's standing counsel Rahul Mehra and additional standing counsel Satyakam sought before the bench of Chief Justice Manmohan Singh and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora to start the PM-ABHIM scheme as a pilot project. The bench said that this scheme should be implemented soon for the convenience of patients in all the hospitals of the capital.
Following the recommendations of Dr. Sarin Committee, the details of a meeting called for improvement in the hospitals of Delhi were also presented to the High Court. Apart from this, information was also given about the efforts made by the Delhi government for changes in hospitals. The next hearing in this case will be held on December 11.
High Court took suo motu cognizance: In this case, the High Court took suo motu cognizance of the poor condition of 24 government hospitals in Delhi and formed a committee under the supervision of Dr. Sarin.
Many guidelines given
● 762 paramedical and 701 nursing staff should be appointed before 11 December 2024.
● The Delhi government has been given 2 weeks' time to test radiological diagnostic services as per the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model until a concrete framework is in place.
● Delhi government ordered to appoint full-time MS, MD, Director or HOD in all hospitals as per law within 2 weeks.
● Jan Aushadhi Centers should be opened in all 24 hospitals of Delhi within 4 weeks.
● Start recruiting employees on contract basis in hospitals where 80 percent work has been completed. Within 4 weeks, treatment of patients can start in hospitals.
