New Delhi: Delhi government on Wednesday announced new measures to tackle the worsening air pollution in the national capital. Half of its government employees will now work from home, aiming to reduce pollution caused by daily commutes.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai shared this update in a post on X , stating, “To reduce pollution, Delhi government decided to work from home in government offices 50% employees will work from home For its implementation, a meeting will be held with the officials at 1 pm today in the Secretariat.”

Pollution levels remain critical in Delhi

Delhi’s air quality has reached hazardous levels, posing severe health risks. Although there was a slight improvement in the air quality index (AQI) on Wednesday compared to the past two days, it remains in the “critical” category.

The AQI level dropped to 421 this morning, after hitting alarming levels of 494 on Monday and 500 on Tuesday. Experts attribute this to slow northwesterly winds and dense fog in neighboring states like Punjab and Haryana, which trap pollutants in the atmosphere.
