Jharkhand second phase elections, highest turnout of 17.02 percent in Silli till 9.30 pm

Voting started at 7 am today on 38 seats of the second and final phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections. Earlier, mock polling was conducted at 5.30 am in all 14,218 polling stations in the presence of polling agents of the candidates. During the mock poll, there were complaints of EVM and VVPAT malfunctioning at some polling stations.

However, by repairing or replacing them in time, voting has been started by conducting mock polls. The fate of 528 candidates including many veterans is to be decided in this phase. This election is being held in the areas of Santal Pargana division, Koylanchal as well as Silli and Khijri assembly constituencies of Ranchi district.

State Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that the voting process of the second phase has started on time. There is an appeal to all the voters of the assembly constituency to go to the booths with their families and exercise their franchise. He took stock of the control room at Nirvachan Sadan located in Dhurwa.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora said that for the second phase of assembly elections, polling centers in 38 assembly constituencies are being monitored through webcasting of CCTV cameras. Cameras are installed inside and outside all the booths, which are being monitored from the level of District Headquarters, Chief Electoral Officer Office and Election Commission of India.

BJP state president Babulal has cast his vote. He had come to vote in his booth number 114 located at Kodai Bank.
